The nashi is a particular species in the genus pear. Juiter, waterier, fresher and crunchier. The name apple pear refers to the shape and bite, not to the taste. It simply tastes like pear, with a hint of rose, pineapple or honey. Within this species there are several varieties/cultivars. In Asia this pear is so highly valued that it is often given away as a gift or eaten at special (family) occasions.
NASHI PEAR

Did you know that..
The nashi pear is delicious, just out of the fist or cold processed in dishes. Warm you can use it for example for jam, syrup or pie. Also nice: bake it in slices or grill it with black pudding or in a salad. Just like in kiwi, mango or pineapple, this pear contains an enzyme that makes meat tender, which is why it is also used in marinades.
