The sugar snap, also called sugar snap pea, is an edible pea with rounded pods and thick pod walls. Unlike snow pea pods (Mangetout), which are flat with thin walls, sugar snaps are nice and crunchy, slightly sweet legumes. A cross between pods and peas, with a nice fresh taste. Sugar snaps are eaten whole; there is no need to shell the pods.
